Exec says Sakhalin Energy to suspend 1 LNG line June–August

MOSCOW, Apr 30 (PRIME) -- Sakhalin Energy, operator of the Sakhalin-2 project, will suspend one liquefied natural gas (LNG) line in June–August due to the coronavirus, Commercial Director Andrei Okhotkin told corporate newspaper in an interview published on Thursday.

The official said that restrictions on staff travels are the most pressing issue in the operations of the project.

"The second, no less important issue is fulfillment of the schedule and amount of planned halts in 2020. We have worked thoroughly on all aspects and made a weighted solution: to fulfill the works on time but suspend one technological line of gas production," the official said.

Sakhalin-2 is Russia’s first facility that produced LNG. Its operator Sakhalin Energy is owned by gas giant Gazprom with 50% plus one share, Royal Dutch Shell with 27.5% minus one share, and Japan’s Mitsui & Co. Ltd with 12.5% and Mitsubishi Corporation with 10%.
